2023 Funding Announcement for Evidence-based Strategies to Prevent Youth Substance Use

Dear Colleague – you are receiving this email as a subscriber of Community Guide news related to excessive alcohol consumption. CDC’s Injury Center recently posted the following funding announcement for community-based coalitions to prevent and reduce substance use among youth. Funds will support implementation of a comprehensive approach that includes evidence-based prevention strategies such as those featured in The Community Guide. Please share this with colleagues who might be interested.

Application Due Date: 04/11/2023

Do you know an organization that is interested in helping to prevent youth substance use in your community? Are you passionate about engaging with youth? 

There's an opportunity to act by applying for funding through the Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Program

Here’s what you should know: 
  • Substance use and mental health issues continue to impact youth in the United States. The DFC Support Program is the Nation’s leading effort to mobilize communities to prevent youth substance use, awarding funding for up to 10 years to community-based coalitions to engage youth and build safe, healthy, and drug-free communities.   
  • Eligible organizations can apply through www.grants.gov. Applications are open now for coalitions applying for year 1 and year 6 funding. Please note the deadline of April 11, 2023.
