NEW PLACES Data Now Live!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Population Health in the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion is excited to announce the newest release of PLACES (available at www.cdc.gov/places). CDC released the new PLACES data in July — five months earlier than previously available. This release includes estimates for 36 health-related measures across four geographic levels: US counties, incorporated and census-designated places, census tracts, and ZIP Code Tabulation Areas.

Enhancements for this PLACES release include:

  • 7 new disability measures: 6 disability types (hearing, vision, cognition, mobility, self-care, and independent living) and any disability.
  • An updated approach for generating 95% confidence intervals.
We want to hear from you!
Thank you for your support of PLACES as a tool for effective and efficient public health action. We look forward to hearing how you use these data to promote health, prevent disease, and promote equity, from our nation’s largest cities to our smaller cities and rural areas, and everywhere in between. Please share your stories with us by sending an email to PLACES@cdc.gov. You can also direct any questions to this mailbox address.
