U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week (USAAW) 2024 Activities Start Next Week

Join CDC as we recognize the importance of improving antibiotic and antifungal prescribing and use, preventing infections, and combating antimicrobial resistance.

Go Purple for USAAW to show your support for improving the use of antibiotics and antifungals and combating antimicrobial resistance. You can:  Fill out the Go Purple for USAAW interest form. Wear purple and post pictures to social media encouraging your followers to improve antibiotic and antifungal use. Light up buildings and landmarks in purple for the week. Bring purple to your online presence: share Go Purple and USAAW messages to your organization’s website, wear purple when on camera during online meetings, and share why you are wearing purple. Share pictures on your social media, tagging #USAAW24.

Attend webinars: November 19, 7:30-9 a.m. EST: CDC’s International Infection Control Branch is hosting a webinar on The Race Against Antimicrobial Resistance in Neonates: Insights on Data, Infection Prevention, and Stewardship. November 20, 3-4 p.m. EST: CDC and the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy are hosting a webinar on the Implementation of Priority Core Elements in Critical Access Hospitals.

Engage in social media conversations: November 18, 10-11 a.m. EST: Join @CDC_AR for World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) and repost messages about improving antibiotic and antifungal use and slowing the spread of antimicrobial resistance during a Global X Storm. Use #WAAW to be a part of the conversation. Daily, November 18-24: Help spread the word with family, friends, and colleagues by following @CDC_AR on X (formerly Twitter) and posting throughout the week using #AntimicrobialResistance, #USAAW24, #BeAntibioticsAware, and #WAAW. November 21, 2-3 p.m. EST: Use #FightAR and #USAAW24 to join a live chat on how we all can fight antimicrobial resistance together that will be co-hosted by the Society of Infectious Disease Pharmacists, The Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America, The American College of Clinical Pharmacy Infectious Diseases Practice and Research Network and @CDC_AR.
