CDC recently published an article in Arthritis Care & Research titled “Family History of Arthritis, Osteoporosis, and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Risk of These Conditions Among US Adults.” This article assessed whether having a parent, sibling, or child with these conditions was associated with an individual being diagnosed with the same condition. |
---|
The study found that individuals with a family history of one of the studied conditions have increased odds of being diagnosed with the same condition, compared to the general population. Knowing an individual’s family history of these conditions can be used to identify risk for arthritis and encourage early screening for arthritis. |

Note: These findings cannot be generalized to the U.S. population because the All of Us Research Program is not a nationally representative sample. |
