| Hi concerns2me, Right now, knowledge-sharing institutions and digital collections around the world are facing a new kind of threat. A recent report from GLAM-E Lab found that AI bots are flooding online repositories and archives, scraping data so fast they're crashing websites and knocking digital collections and research offline. Meanwhile, museums and libraries are being pushed to consider removing or paywalling content to prevent AI bots from scraping their collections. It's getting harder and harder to keep knowledge open and accessible to everyone. That's where we come in. Libraries are strained. At CC, we're most worried that they'll stop sharing openly. We unfortunately can't solve every problem. But we can help with what we've done best – developing nuanced solutions that enable sharing and account for the varied preferences of users. With CC signals, we're creating a clear way for content platforms to indicate how they wish for their content to be used in the development of AI models. We want checks and balances on AI so libraries keep sharing and so that everyone has access to knowledge. But we can't do this work without your support. Would you be willing to make a donation? Even a small amount makes a difference. Thank you! CC Team |
