Sepsis Awareness Month: New Resources to Share

September is Sepsis Awareness Month:
Spread the Word About Sepsis to Help Save Lives

In a typical year, at least 1.7 million adults in America develop sepsis, nearly 270,000 Americans die as a result of sepsis, and 1 in 3 patients who dies in a hospital has sepsis. Sepsis, or the infection causing sepsis, starts outside of the hospital in nearly 87% of cases. Infections can put you or your loved one at risk for sepsis. Anyone can get an infection, and almost any infection, including COVID-19, can lead to sepsis. In these unprecedented times, it is vitally important for people to know how to prevent infections and recognize sepsis.

Here’s three things you can do to help yourself and your loved ones get ahead of sepsis:

  1. Read important updated information from CDC on the Get Ahead of Sepsis website in English and Spanish.
  2. Download and share CDC’s updated patient fact sheet in English and Spanish and healthcare professional infographic.
  3. Share updated sepsis graphics on social media to educate friends and loved ones about sepsis.

This Sepsis Awareness Month, spread the word about sepsis—you can help save lives.
