LAARC User’s Guide and Questionnaire now available in Portuguese, Spanish and French

CDC’s recently published Laboratory Assessment of Antibiotic Resistance Testing Capacity (LAARC) helps laboratories in resource-limited settings identify gaps in testing performance and develop plans to correct key laboratory practices that contribute to inaccurate antibiotic resistance (AR) data. The User’s Guide and Questionnaire are now available in French, Spanish, and Portuguese.   Originally developed in 2017 and piloted in numerous resource-limited settings, LAARC consists of a User’s Guide to explain proper use of the tool, a printable Questionnaire to facilitate use, and an Excel-based scoring tool with multiple languages embedded.  The Excel-based scoring tool:  Generates numerical indicators of quality and capacity in fifteen domains of laboratory practice Provides detailed real-time heatmaps for immediate visualization of problem areas Flags key responses that require urgent correction Aids development of workplans for improvement Can be used to monitor the status of laboratory improvements over time Allows data to be exported and collated for comparative analysis of multiple laboratories Contains an embedded translation key for easy transition between English, French, Spanish and Portuguese Find these resources on CDC’s AR website.
