We are thrilled to announce that the new CDC.gov is live!

The refreshed content about alcohol use on the new site is a result of our agency-wide effort to modernize and transform digital communication. The web pages incorporate best practices for communicating clearly and effectively about science and data while centering on improving the user experience.

The refreshed content about alcohol use on the new CDC.gov makes it easier for the public and professionals to understand how they can take action to improve their own health and well-being—and to understand proven strategies to support everyone in having a better quality of life.

Key changes

We have updated most of the CDC web pages with information on alcohol use and your health and preventing excessive alcohol use to incorporate best practices in health communication. Many of the pages also have new URLs.

Check out some of the new pages on alcohol use and your health:

Learn more about preventing excessive alcohol use in the series of prevention pages.

We now have several pages that focus on the effective strategies for preventing excessive alcohol use.

Key URLs that remain the same

  • The Alcohol-Related Disease Impact (ARDI) website, which provides estimates of alcohol-related deaths and years of potential life lost, has not changed with this web refresh.
  • You can still visit the Alcohol Use homepage at the same URL. This updated alcohol homepage content will help you quickly access about two dozen CDC web pages on alcohol.

CDC will continue to publish refreshed content in web pages on various health topics, including some other new pages on alcohol use.

Overall CDC.gov changes

Many URLs have changed or will change throughout the remainder of 2024.

  • However, most links will continue to work, and smart redirects will automatically direct you from any previous links to corresponding new pages. Please contact the Alcohol Program at alcohol@cdc.gov or the Office of Communications at dcm@cdc.gov if you have any feedback or questions.

Syndicated pages will continue to work on the new CDC.gov.

  • If you are currently syndicating a page, please review any syndicated pages to be sure the content still meets your needs. To syndicate a new page, visit the Public Health Media Library to  find available pages. Pages on the new website will no longer display an “Embed this page” icon for syndication.

Previous content from the old CDC.gov is being archived.

  • Pages exactly as they were before the new site launch will be available at Snapshot2024.cdc.gov. This snapshot site will be available for six months. Older pages and PDFs will be available in an archive in CDC Stacks.
